1. The Magic of the Underside – Why we rarely see dogs like this
Most dog owners always see their dog from above – playing, feeding or cuddling. But from below, a completely new world is revealed:
Many dogs have a completely different color of fur on the bottom than on the top. A dark dog can suddenly have a snow-white belly!
Due to perspective, floppy-eared dogs often develop erect ears or actual “flying ears”.
From this perspective, many dogs appear like puppies , even when they are already adults.
2. Surprising reactions – Not every dog is the same!
Sometimes it is the shyest dogs that feel most comfortable on the glass plate, while the otherwise confident dog suddenly becomes cautious. For example: Many owners think that their dog cannot relax because the glass plate reminds them of a visit to the vet. But as soon as the shoot begins and there are treats, most dogs are quickly convinced! Some owners even report that their dog was more relaxed at the vet after the shoot - vet training included! 😉
3. Lots of character and individuality
A view from below perfectly reveals a dog's personality. Each dog has its own way of behaving on the glass plate:
🐕 The curious ones: Those who immediately sniff around and take a closer look at everything.
🐕 The Enjoyers: Dogs who lie down comfortably and simply relax.
🐕 The stubborn ones: Dachshunds in particular have always surprised me. They often cannot be persuaded even with liver sausage - if they don't want to, then they don't want to! 😆
4. My most bizarre shooting – quails on the glass plate!
I usually photograph dogs - but sometimes there are other animal surprises too! One of my coolest snaps was a photo shoot with quails . Yes, quails! They almost looked like flying UFOs from below. Of course, dogs are still my main models, but this shoot showed me that almost every animal looks exciting from this perspective!
5. Emotions that get under your skin
There are moments during the shoot that particularly touch me. I remember a family with a small dog - the owner, a grown man, was completely blown away when he saw the first unedited images on the screen. He couldn't take his eyes off them and was even more in love with his dog than before. Such moments are priceless - and that's exactly what makes my work so special.
